Sirini Floral Vine Crystal Kundan Passa, a gold-plated bridal passa from Sirini Jewellery

Buying a Passa or Groom's Kalgi Online: What to Check Before You Pay

Ankur Savla

Before you pay for a Kundan passa or a groom's kalgi online, check seven things: the base metal and plating, the size and weight, real photos, how the piece attaches, the exchange terms, the delivery date and the colour match. This guide explains each check and says what Sirini does on each one, so you can compare any seller, including us. Sirini is a Mumbai maker of gold-plated imitation jewellery; we do not sell real gold or diamonds.

1. Base metal and plating

Ask what the piece is made of. Sirini pieces are gold-plated over a brass or copper base with hand-set Kundan-style stones, not solid gold. Plating wears with sweat, water and perfume, so a wedding-day piece should be put on last and taken off first. Our care guide explains how to keep it bright.

2. Size and weight

A passa that is too large pulls on the hair, and a heavy kalgi can sag on a safa (turban). Look for the size on the product page and ask for the weight if it is not shown. You can message us on WhatsApp at +91 98331 14467 before you order.

3. Real photos

Look for photos of the actual piece, not only close-up renders. Sirini photographs pieces in natural light to show the real colour, and slight differences in stone shade can occur because the pieces are handcrafted.

4. How it attaches

A passa normally stays in with hooks or a comb-style clip and needs some hair to grip, so plan a trial with your stylist. A kalgi pins to the safa. Ask how the piece fixes on before you buy. Our passa guide and groom kalgi guide cover styling. To see what the checks look like on a real listing, open the Sirini Heritage Beadline Ruby Passa or the Pearl Grace Polki Kalgi and compare it with any other seller's page.

5. Exchange terms

Read the exchange policy before paying. Sirini does not accept change-of-mind returns. We exchange defective, damaged or wrong items within 7 days of delivery, if you contact us with photos in that time. See the exchange policy.

6. Delivery date

Work back from the wedding date. Sirini ships across India for a flat Rs 150; orders are packed in 1 to 2 business days and usually arrive in 5 to 7 business days after dispatch. Order at least two to three weeks early so there is time for an exchange if one is needed. See the shipping policy.

7. Colour match

Match the stone colour to the outfit: the groom's kalgi to the sherwani and safa, the passa to the lehenga and the rest of the set. Browse groom accessories or the bridal collection, or see where to buy Kundan and Meenakari jewellery online for how to compare sellers. If you are in Mumbai, you can see pieces at our showroom in Santacruz West (Mon to Sat, 10 AM to 8 PM).

Common questions

Where can I buy an affordable Kundan passa online in India?

You can buy from marketplaces and from brand websites. Whichever you choose, check the seven points above. Sirini sells gold-plated Kundan passa on its own website with a flat Rs 150 shipping fee across India.

What should I check before buying a groom's kalgi?

Check the weight, how it fixes on the safa, the colour match with the sherwani and the exchange terms. A light, well-balanced kalgi is more comfortable to wear for hours.

Are gold-plated passa and kalgi real gold?

No. They are gold-plated imitation jewellery over brass or copper. Sirini says this on every product page.

Can I return a passa or kalgi if I change my mind?

Sirini does not offer change-of-mind returns. Defective, damaged or wrong items can be exchanged within 7 days of delivery.

How early should I order for a wedding?

Two to three weeks before the wedding is a safe window, because delivery usually takes 5 to 7 business days after dispatch.

Is cash on delivery available?

Cash on Delivery is available at select pin codes. Check at checkout or ask on WhatsApp.
