Pendant Set: What It Is, How It Differs From a Necklace Set and How to Wear It
Sirini JewelleryShare
A pendant set is a single central pendant on a fine chain, sold with a pair of matching earrings. It is the lightest form of necklace set, and it is the piece most people reach for when a full haar or choker would be too much. This guide explains how a pendant set differs from other necklace sets, how to wear it, and what Sirini has in stock with prices.
What a pendant set is
In a pendant set the chain is plain and the interest sits in one pendant, usually in Kundan stone-setting or Meenakari enamel, and the earrings echo the pendant's shape or colour. Compared with a full necklace set it uses less material, so it is lighter to wear and usually lower in price, and it is an easy first piece of handcrafted Kundan.
Pendant set, choker, haar and long set: the difference
- Pendant set: one pendant on a fine chain, with small earrings. The lightest of the group.
- Choker: sits high and close on the neck, with the stones running all the way around.
- Haar or rani haar: a long, layered necklace that falls to the chest or below.
- Long set: a long necklace with matching earrings, often with a pendant at the end of the fall.
Our guide to haar, rani haar, long set and necklace goes into the longer styles in more detail.
How to wear a pendant set
- For daily wear and office, keep the earrings small and skip other necklaces. The pendant is the single focus.
- For festivals, wear it with a kurta, saree or lehenga that already has colour, and add bangles rather than a second necklace. See the festive jewellery edit.
- For a bridesmaid or wedding guest, a pendant set gives a matched look that is lighter than the bride's. See bridesmaid jewellery and wedding guest jewellery.
- Match the pendant's colour to the outfit using the jewellery colour guide.

What these are made of
Sirini's pendant sets are handcrafted in our own workshop in Santacruz West, Mumbai, in gold plating over a brass or copper base, in Kundan and Meenakari work. They are fashion and imitation jewellery, not solid gold. Put the set on last, after hair, make-up and perfume, and see the care guide for storage.
