How a Sirini Piece Is Made

Every Sirini piece is handcrafted in our own workshop in Santacruz West, Mumbai. Sirini Jewellery was founded in 2017 by Nishit Savla as a manufacturer, not a reseller — the design, the stone-setting, the enamelling and the final quality check all happen in-house before a piece is listed. This page walks through how a finished necklace set or pair of earrings actually comes together.

1. Design and pattern

A piece starts as a drawing. The motif — a paisley, a temple dome, a floral jaali — is worked out on paper, then translated into a base pattern that sets the scale, the stone layout and where the Meenakari enamel will sit. Traditional Kundan and temple forms are the starting point; the proportions are adjusted so the piece reads well at fashion-jewellery weight rather than the weight of solid gold.

2. The base

The frame is formed in brass or copper. This is the structural metal that everything else is built on. Sirini jewellery is fashion / imitation jewellery — there is no solid gold, silver or precious metal in the base, and we state that on every product page.

3. Kundan stone-setting

Kundan is a setting technique, not a stone. Each stone is placed into its cavity in the base, and a thin sheet of refined foil is worked in behind and around it by hand. The foil is what gives Kundan its flat-topped, mirror-bright glow — light bounces off the foil rather than passing through a faceted cut. This step is slow and entirely manual; the quality of a Kundan piece is decided here.

4. Meenakari enamelling

On pieces that carry it, coloured Meenakari enamel is applied to the metal by hand — usually on the reverse and the edges — and then fired so it sets hard and glassy. The deep greens, reds and whites you see on the back of a Sirini necklace are built up colour by colour. It is common for a single piece to carry Meenakari on the back and Kundan on the front, so two traditional crafts sit in one design.

5. Gold plating

The assembled piece is cleaned and then plated in 18–22K gold over the brass or copper base. Plating is a surface layer measured in microns, not solid metal. A brighter polish or a darker, matte “antique” / mehendi finish is chosen at this stage depending on the design.

6. Assembly and stringing

Components are joined — necklace panels linked, earring tops attached to their drops, hooks and closures fitted. Strung pieces (rani haar, layered sets, moti work) are threaded and knotted by hand so they sit and drape correctly.

7. Quality check and dispatch

Before a piece is packed, it is checked by hand for loose stones, plating evenness, clasp function and finish. Only then is it listed or shipped. Orders go out from the Mumbai workshop with a flat ₹379 shipping fee across India, Cash on Delivery available, and a 7-day exchange if a piece arrives defective, damaged or wrong. Plating and polish are covered by a 1-year warranty.

How long does a piece take?

It depends entirely on the design. A simple pair of studs is quick; a full bridal necklace set with dense Kundan work and Meenakari on the reverse is many hours of hand-work across several people. Because each piece is made and finished by hand, small variations between two pieces of the same design are normal and are a sign of hand-craft, not a fault.

Is Sirini jewellery handmade?

Yes. Stone-setting, enamelling, assembly and finishing are all done by hand in Sirini's Mumbai workshop. The base metal forming and plating are the only machine-assisted steps.

Is it real gold?

No. It is 18–22K gold plating over a brass or copper base — fashion / imitation jewellery, not solid gold, diamond or natural gemstones.
